Costa Rican Independence Party 2025

We are pleased to invite you to our celebration of Costa Rica's independence. 

Costa Rica in the UK invites you to the annual Independence Day celebration, which will take place on Saturday 13th of September at 2:30pm in London.

This year’s event will be a little different, as food will not be included. We’ll have traditional folklore dancing, raffles, we’ll sing the national anthems, and there will be the traditional bomba poetry contest! (There’s no favouritism — the best bomba wins!). We’ll also award a prize to the best campesino or campesina, so bring out your chonetes! And of course, there’ll be chilliguaros and dance music! The pub offers a varied menu, and everyone can order directly at the venue.

Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., and we’ll kick off the event shortly after. We have a full agenda, so we kindly ask everyone to be punctual.

At 3:30 pm we’ll begin the patriotic celebrations with a colourful folklore dance performance, followed by speeches. We’ll sing the Costa Rican National Anthem and La Patriótica Costarricense, then continue with the traditional bomba competition and raffle (some lucky guests will take home Costa Rican goodies like coffee, Salsa Lizano, and more). We’ll also award the best campesino or campesina. To close the night in the best way, we’ll enjoy lively dance music.
