Our long awaited Bicentennary!

On the 15th September we were invited to London's City Hall to commemorate 200 years of the independence of Costa Rica.

It was a real pleasure to share some of our rich cultural heritage with London Assembly Member Unmesh Desai and his colleagues. As part of the ceremony, we sung the Costa Rican national anthem in the famous Map Room, where we also presented some traditional dances by the Association's dance group. Later, we were invited for a tour of the chamber of the London Assembly, ending with an incredible view of the imposing Tower Bridge. See the pictures here

A few days later on the 18th September, the Costa Rican Community in the UK celebrated with great emotion and patriotism a very special Independence Day. It was wonderful to see the vast majority of the Costa Ricans here to celebrate the bicentennary together. The Ambassador of Costa Rica to the UK, Rafael Ortiz, gave a very moving and patriotic speech reminding us of how fortunate we are to be from Costa Rica. See the full video below.
